LOMO Optics

ASTELE 70 Maksutov-Cassegrain 70-mm Telescope

The ASTELE 70 is a Russian made 70-mm Maksutov-Cassegrain telescope, suitable for use both as an astronomical telescope and a terrestrial spotting scope. Russian optical work is some of the best in the world, and the prices are cheaper than equivalent designs from the US or Japan. This  telescope is a quality choice for beginning astronomers as an alternative to the traditional 60-mm "department store" refractor, and the superb optics and compact design also make it a highly portable travel scope. Its 1.2 degree field of view is just right for both lunar and solar eclipse photography. In short, the ASTELE 70 is a perfect first telescope. We include a Bushnell Field Tripod on which to mount your new telescope.

for Small Telescopes and Binoculars

First Light Astronomy Kit

First Light brings together the essential resources a beginner needs to get started observing the sky.

First Light includes $40 worth of materials at a fraction of the cost.

But First Light is more. You get a three-year planet locator, a three-year daily moon phase calendar, a reference card on comets, a table of the best meteor showers, and an observing log master page to be duplicated to start a well-organized observing logbook.
